Psalm 10<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Ut quid, Domine?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

1 Why do you stand so far off, O LORD<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n and hide yourself in time of<\/span> trou-ble?<\/span><\/p>\n

2 The wicked arrogantly persecute the poor<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n but they are trapped in the schemes they have de<\/span>-vised.<\/span><\/p>\n

3 The wicked boast of their heart’s de-sire<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n the covetous curse and revile the<\/span> LORD.<\/span><\/p>\n

4 The wicked are so proud that they care not for God<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n their only thought is, “God does not<\/span> mat-ter.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Chant<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

5 Their ways are devious at all times; your judgments are far above out of their sight<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n they defy all their<\/span> en-emies.<\/span><\/p>\n

6 They say in their heart, “I shall not be sha<\/span>-ken; *<\/span>
\n no harm shall happen to me<\/span> ev-er.”<\/span><\/p>\n

7 Their mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and op-pres<\/span>-sion; *<\/span>
\n under their tongue are mischief and<\/span> wrong.<\/span><\/p>\n

8 They lurk in ambush in public squares and in secret places they murder the\u00a0in<\/span>-nocent; *<\/span>
\n they spy out the<\/span> help-less.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Chant<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

9 They lie in wait, like a lion in a covert; they lie in wait to seize upon the\u00a0low<\/span>-ly; *<\/span>
\n they seize the lowly and drag them away in their<\/span> net.<\/span><\/p>\n

10 The innocent are broken and humbled be-fore<\/span> them; *<\/span>
\n the helpless fall before their<\/span> pow-er.<\/span><\/p>\n

11 They say in their heart, “God has for-got<\/span>-ten; *<\/span>
\nhe hides his face; he will ne-ver<\/span> no-tice.”<\/span><\/p>\n

12 Rise up, O LORD; lift up your hand, O God<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n do not forget the af<\/span>-flic-ted.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Chant<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

13 Why should the wicked revile God<\/span>? *<\/span>
\n why should they say in their heart, “You do not<\/span> care”?<\/span><\/p>\n

14 Surely, you behold trouble and mis<\/span>-ery; *<\/span>
\n you see it and take it into your own<\/span> hand.<\/span><\/p>\n

15 The helpless commit themselves to you<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n for you are the helper of<\/span> or-phans.<\/span><\/p>\n

16 Break the power of the wicked and ev<\/span>-il; *<\/span>
\n search out their wickedness until you find<\/span> none.<\/span><\/p>\n

17 The LORD is King for ever and ev<\/span>-er; *<\/span>
\n the ungodly shall perish from his<\/span>\u00a0land.<\/span><\/p>\n

18 The LORD will hear the desire of the hum<\/span>-ble; *<\/span>
\n you will strengthen their heart and your ears shall<\/span> hear.<\/span><\/p>\n

19 To give justice to the orphan and op-pressed<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n so that mere mortals may strike terror no<\/span> more.<\/span><\/p>\n

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spir<\/span>-it: *<\/span>
\n as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. A<\/span>-men.<\/span><\/p>\n
