Psalm 89:19-52<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Tunc locutus es<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

19 You spoke once in a vision and said to your faith-ful<\/span> peo-ple: *<\/span>
\n “I have set the crown upon a warrior<\/span>\u00a0and have exalted one chosen out of<\/span> the peo-ple.<\/span><\/p>\n

20 I have found David my<\/span> ser-vant; *<\/span>
\n with my holy oil have I<\/span> a-noin-ted him<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

21 My hand will hold him<\/span> fast *<\/span>
\n and my arm will make<\/span> him strong.<\/span><\/p>\n

22 No enemy shall de<\/span>-ceive him, *<\/span>
\n nor any wicked man bring<\/span> him down.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Chant<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

23 I will crush his foes be<\/span>-fore him *<\/span>
\n and strike down those<\/span> who hate him.<\/span><\/p>\n

24 My faithfulness and love shall be<\/span>\u00a0with him, *<\/span>
\n and he shall be victorious through<\/span> my Name.<\/span><\/p>\n

25 I shall make his dominion ex<\/span>-tend *<\/span>
\n from the Great Sea to<\/span> the Ri-ver.<\/span><\/p>\n

26 He will say to me, ‘You are my<\/span> Mo-ther, *<\/span>
\n my God, and the rock of my<\/span> sal-va-tion.’<\/span><\/p>\n

27 I will make him my<\/span> first-born *<\/span>
\n and higher than the kings of<\/span> the earth.<\/span><\/p>\n

28 I will keep my love for him for<\/span> e-ver, *<\/span>
\n and my covenant will stand firm<\/span> for him.<\/span><\/p>\n

29 I will establish his line for<\/span> e-ver *<\/span>
\n and his throne as the days<\/span> of hea-ven.”<\/span><\/p>\n

30 “If his children forsake my<\/span> law *<\/span>
\n and do not walk according to<\/span> my judg-ments;<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Chant<\/a><\/p>\n

31 If they break my<\/span> sta-tutes *<\/span>
\n and do not keep my<\/span> com-mand-ments;<\/span><\/p>\n

32 I will punish their transgressions with a<\/span> rod *<\/span>
\n and their iniquities with<\/span> the lash;<\/span><\/p>\n

33 But I will not take my<\/span> love from him<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n nor let my faithful-ness<\/span> prove false.<\/span><\/p>\n

34 I will not break my<\/span> co-venant, *<\/span>
\n nor change what has gone out of<\/span> my lips.<\/span><\/p>\n

35 Once for all I have sworn by my<\/span> ho-liness: *<\/span>
\n ‘I will not lie<\/span> to Da-vid.<\/span><\/p>\n

36 His line shall endure for<\/span> e-ver *<\/span>
\n and his throne as the sun<\/span> be-fore me;<\/span><\/p>\n

37 It shall stand fast for evermore like the<\/span> moon, *<\/span>
\n the abiding witness in<\/span> the sky.'”<\/span><\/p>\n

38 But you have cast off and rejected your a<\/span>-noin-ted; *<\/span>
\n you have become en-raged<\/span> at him.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Chant<\/a><\/p>\n

39 You have broken your covenant with your<\/span> ser-vant, *<\/span>
\n defiled his crown, and hurled it to<\/span> the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

40 You have breached all his<\/span> walls *<\/span>
\n and laid his strong-holds<\/span> in ru-ins.<\/span><\/p>\n

41 All who pass by de<\/span>-spoil him; *<\/span>
\n he has become the scorn of<\/span> his neigh-bors.<\/span><\/p>\n

42 You have exalted the right hand of his<\/span> foes *<\/span>
\n and made all his ene-mies<\/span> re-joice.<\/span><\/p>\n

43 You have turned back the edge of his<\/span> sword *<\/span>
\n and have not sustained him<\/span> in bat-tle.<\/span><\/p>\n

44 You have put an end to his<\/span> splen-dor *<\/span>
\n and cast his throne to<\/span> the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

45 You have cut short the days of his<\/span> youth *<\/span>
\n and have covered him<\/span> with shame.<\/span><\/p>\n

46 How long will you hide yourself,<\/span>\u00a0O LORD? will you hide yourself for<\/span> e-ver? *<\/span>
\n how long will your anger burn<\/span> like fire?<\/span><\/p>\n

47 Remember, LORD, how short<\/span> life is, *<\/span>
\n how frail you have made<\/span> all flesh.<\/span><\/p>\n

48 Who can live and not see<\/span> death? *<\/span>
\n who can save herself from the power of<\/span> the grave?<\/span><\/p>\n

49 Where, Lord, are your loving-kindnesses of<\/span> old, *<\/span>
\n which you promised David in<\/span> your faith-fulness?<\/span><\/p>\n

50 Remember, Lord, how your servant is<\/span> mocked, *<\/span>
\n how I carry in my bosom the taunts of man<\/span>-y peo-ples,<\/span><\/p>\n

51 The taunts your enemies have hurled, O<\/span> LORD, *<\/span>
\n which they hurled at the heels of your<\/span> a-noin-ted.<\/span><\/p>\n

52 Blessed be the LORD for<\/span> e-vermore! *<\/span>
\n Amen, I say<\/span>, A-men.<\/span><\/p>\n

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Ho-ly<\/span> Spir-it: *<\/span>
