Psalm 74\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Ut quid, Deus?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

1 O God, why have you utterly cast us<\/span> off? *<\/span>
\n why is your wrath so hot against the sheep of your<\/span> pas-ture?<\/span><\/p>\n

2 Remember your congregation that you purchased long a<\/span>-go, *<\/span>
\n the tribe you redeemed to be your inheritance,<\/span>\u00a0and Mount Zion where you<\/span> dwell.<\/span><\/p>\n

3 Turn your steps toward the end-less<\/span> ru-ins; *<\/span>
\n the enemy has laid waste everything in your sanc-tu<\/span>-a-ry.<\/span><\/p>\n

4 Your adversaries roared in your\u00a0ho-ly<\/span> place; *<\/span>
\n they set up their banners as tokens of<\/span> vic-tory.<\/span><\/p>\n

5 They were like men coming up with axes to a grove of<\/span> trees; *<\/span>
\n they broke down all your carved work with hatchets and<\/span> ham-mers.<\/span><\/p>\n

6 They set fire to your ho-ly<\/span> place; *<\/span>
\n they defiled the dwellingplace of your Name and razed it to the<\/u><\/span> ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

7 They said to themselves, “Let us destroy them al-to<\/span>-ge-ther.” *<\/span>
\n They burned down all the meetingplaces of God in the<\/span> land.<\/span><\/p>\n

8 There are no signs for us to see;<\/span>\u00a0there is no pro-phet<\/span> left; *<\/span>
\n there is not one among us who knows how<\/span> long.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Chant<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

9 How long, O God, will the adversa-ry<\/span> scoff? *<\/span>
\n will the enemy blaspheme your Name for<\/span> ev-er?<\/span><\/p>\n

10 Why do you draw back your<\/span> hand? *<\/span>
\n why is your right hand hidden in your<\/span> bo-som?<\/span><\/p>\n

11 Yet God is my King from an-cient<\/span> times, *<\/span>
\n victorious in the midst of the<\/span> earth.<\/span><\/p>\n

12 You divided the sea by your<\/span> might *<\/span>
\n and shattered the heads of the dragons upon the<\/span> wa-ters;<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Chant<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

13 You crushed the heads of Le<\/span>-vi-athan *<\/span>
\n and gave him to the people of the desert for<\/span> food.<\/span><\/p>\n

14 You split open spring and<\/span> tor-rent; *<\/span>
\n you dried up everflow-ing<\/span> ri-vers.<\/span><\/p>\n

15 Yours is the day, yours also the<\/span> night; *<\/span>
\n you established the moon and the<\/span> sun.<\/span><\/p>\n

16 You fixed all the boundaries of the<\/span> earth; *<\/span>
\n you made both summer and<\/span> win-ter.<\/span><\/p>\n

17 Remember, O LORD, how the ene-my<\/span> scoffed, *<\/span>
\n how a foolish people despised your<\/span> Name.<\/span><\/p>\n

18 Do not hand over the life of your dove to wild<\/span> beasts; *<\/span>
\n never forget the lives of your<\/span> poor.<\/span><\/p>\n

19 Look upon your<\/span> cov-enant; *<\/span>
\n the dark places of the earth are haunts of<\/span> vi-olence.<\/span><\/p>\n

20 Let not the oppressed turn away a<\/span>-shamed; *<\/span>
\n let the poor and needy praise your<\/span> Name.<\/span><\/p>\n

21 Arise, O God, maintain your<\/span> cause; *<\/span>
\n remember how fools revile you all day<\/span> long.<\/span><\/p>\n

22 Forget not the clamor of your ad-ver<\/span>-sa-ries, *<\/span>
\n the unending tumult of those who rise up a<\/span>-gainst you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spir<\/span>-it: *<\/span>
