Psalm 51<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Miserere mei, Deus<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

1 Have mercy on me, O God,\u00a0according to your loving-kind<\/span>-ness; *<\/span>
\n in your great compassion blot out my<\/span> of-fen-ses.<\/span><\/p>\n

2 Wash me through and through from my wic<\/span>-kedness *<\/span>
\n and cleanse me from<\/span> my sin.<\/span><\/p>\n

3 For I know my trans-gres<\/span>-sions, *<\/span>
\n and my sin is ever<\/span> be-fore me.<\/span><\/p>\n

4 Against you only have I sinned<\/span> *<\/span>
\n and done what is evil in<\/span> your sight.<\/span><\/p>\n

5 And so you are justified when you speak<\/span> *<\/span>
\n and upright in<\/span> your judg-ment.<\/span><\/p>\n

6 Indeed, I have been wicked from my birth<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n a sinner from my mo<\/span>-ther’s womb.<\/span><\/p>\n

7 For behold, you look for truth deep with-in<\/span> me, *<\/span>
\n and will make me understand wis<\/span>-dom se-cretly.<\/span><\/p>\n

8 Purge me from my sin, and I shall be pure<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n wash me, and I shall be clean<\/span> in-deed.<\/span><\/p>\n

9 Make me hear of joy and glad<\/span>-ness, *<\/span>
\n that the body you have broken may<\/span> re-joice.<\/span><\/p>\n

10 Hide your face from my sins<\/span> *<\/span>
\n and blot out all my<\/span> i-ni-quities.<\/span><\/p>\n

11 Create in me a clean heart, O God<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n and renew a right spirit<\/span> with-in me.<\/span><\/p>\n

12 Cast me not away from your pres<\/span>-ence *<\/span>
\n and take not your holy Spir<\/span>-it from me.<\/span>

13 Give me the joy of your saving help<\/span> again *<\/span>
\n and sustain me with your boun<\/span>-tiful Spir-it.<\/span><\/p>\n

14 I shall teach your ways to the wic<\/span>-ked, *<\/span>
\n and sinners shall re-turn<\/span> to you.<\/span><\/p>\n

15 Deliver me from death, O God<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n and my tongue shall sing of your righteousness,\u00a0O God of my<\/span> sal-va-tion.<\/span><\/p>\n

16 Open my lips, O Lord<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n and my mouth shall pro-claim<\/span> your praise.<\/span><\/p>\n

17 Had you desired it,\u00a0I would have offered sa<\/span>-crifice, *<\/span>
\n but you take no delight in<\/span> burnt-of-ferings.<\/span><\/p>\n

18 The sacrifice of God is a troubled spir<\/span>-it; *<\/span>
\n a broken and contrite heart,\u00a0O God, you will not<\/span> des-pise.<\/span><\/p>\n

19 Be favorable and gracious to Zi<\/span>-on, *<\/span>
\n and rebuild the walls of<\/span> Je-ru-salem.<\/span><\/p>\n

20 Then you will be pleased with the appointed sacrifices,\u00a0with burnt-offerings and ob-la<\/span>-tions; *<\/span>
\n then shall they offer young bullocks up-on<\/span> your al-tar.<\/span>
