Psalm 22\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Deus, Deus meus<\/em><\/p>\n

1 My God, my God, why have you for-sa<\/span>–ken me<\/span>? *<\/span>
\n and are so far from my cry and from the words of my<\/span>\u00a0di-stress?<\/span><\/p>\n

2. O my God, I cry in the daytime,\u00a0but you do not\u00a0an<\/span>-swer; *
\nby night as well, but I\u00a0find<\/span> no rest.<\/span><\/p>\n

3 Yet you are the Ho<\/span>–ly One,<\/span>\u00a0*<\/span>
\n enthroned upon the praises<\/span> of Is-rael.<\/span><\/p>\n

4 Our forefathers put their trust<\/span> in you<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n they trusted, and you<\/span> de-li-vered them.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Chant<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

5 They cried out to you and were de-li<\/span>-vered; *<\/span>
\n they trusted in you and were not put<\/span>\u00a0to shame.<\/span><\/p>\n

6 But as for me, I am a worm and no man<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n scorned by all and despised by<\/span> the peo-ple.<\/span><\/p>\n

7 All who see me laugh me to scorn<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n they curl their lips and wag their<\/span> heads, say-ing,<\/span><\/p>\n

8 “He trusted in the LORD;<\/span>\u00a0let him de-li<\/span>–ver him<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n let him rescue him, if he de-lights<\/span>\u00a0in him.”<\/span><\/p>\n

9 Yet you are he who took me out of the womb<\/span>, *
\n<\/span>and kept me safe upon my\u00a0mo<\/span>-ther’s breast.<\/span><\/p>\n

10 I have been entrusted to you ever since I was born<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n you were my God when I was still in my mo<\/span>-ther’s womb.<\/span><\/p>\n

11 Be not far from me, for trouble is near<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n and there is none<\/span> to help.<\/span><\/p>\n

12 Many young bulls en-cir<\/span>–cle me<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n strong bulls of Ba-shan<\/span> sur-round me.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Chant<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

13 They open wide their jaws<\/span> at me<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n like a ravening and a roar<\/span>-ing\u00a0lion.<\/span><\/p>\n

14 I am poured out like water;<\/span>\u00a0all my bones are out of joint<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n my heart within my breast is mel<\/span>-ting wax.<\/span><\/p>\n

15 My mouth is dried out like a pot-sherd;<\/span>\u00a0my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n and you have laid me in the dust of<\/span>\u00a0the grave.<\/span><\/p>\n

16 Packs of dogs close me in,<\/span>\u00a0and gangs of evildoers circle a-round<\/span> me; *<\/span>
\n they pierce my hands and my feet;<\/span>\u00a0I can count all<\/span> my bones.<\/span><\/p>\n

17 They stare and gloat o<\/span>–ver me<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n they divide my garments among them;<\/span>\u00a0they cast lots for<\/span> my clo-thing.<\/span><\/p>\n

18 Be not far away, O LORD<\/span>; *<\/span>
\n you are my strength;<\/span>\u00a0ha-sten<\/span> to help me.<\/span><\/p>\n

19 Save me from the sword<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n my life from the power of<\/span>\u00a0the dog.<\/span><\/p>\n

20 Save me from the lion’s<\/span> mouth, *<\/span>
\n my wretched body from the horns of<\/span>\u00a0wild bulls.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Chant<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

21 I will declare your Name to my\u00a0bre<\/span>-thren<\/span>; *<\/span><\/span>
\n in the midst of the congregation I<\/span> will praise you.<\/span><\/p>\n

22 Praise the LORD, you that fear<\/span> him; *<\/span>
\n stand in awe of him, O offspring of Israel;<\/span>\u00a0all you of Jacob’s line<\/span>, give glo-ry.<\/span><\/p>\n

23 For he does not despise nor abhor the poor in their poverty;\u00a0<\/span>neither does he hide his\u00a0face<\/span> from them<\/u>; *<\/span>
\n but when they cry to him<\/span>\u00a0he hears them.<\/span><\/p>\n

24 My praise is of him in the great as-sem<\/span>-bly; *<\/span>
\n I will perform my vows in the presence of those<\/span> who wor-ship him<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

25 The poor shall eat and be satisfied,<\/span>\u00a0and those who seek the LORD shall praise<\/span> him: *<\/span>
\n “May your heart live<\/span> for e-ver!”<\/span><\/p>\n

26 All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD<\/span>, *<\/span>
\n and all the families of the nations bow<\/span> be-fore him.<\/span><\/p>\n

27 For kingship belongs to the LORD<\/span>; *<\/span>
\nhe rules o-ver<\/span> the na-tions.<\/span><\/p>\n

28 To him alone all who sleep in the earth bow down in wor<\/span>-ship; *<\/span>
\n all who go down to the dust fall<\/span> be-fore him.<\/span><\/p>\n

29 My soul shall live for him;<\/span>\u00a0my descendants shall serve<\/span> him; *<\/span>
\n they shall be known as the LORD’S<\/span> for e-ver.<\/span><\/p>\n

30 They shall come and make known to a people yet un-born<\/span> *<\/span>
\n the saving deeds that he<\/span> has done.<\/span><\/p>\n

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spir<\/span>-it: *<\/span>
